Electronic Beer Pong Table

posted on January 18, 2009 in Wild Beer Pong Tables

Complete with LEDs, sensors, and an 802.15.4 wireless module (To be used in the near future in conjunction with a remote scoreboard, among other things).

Every time either side of the table is cleared, it allows for that team to select their team color.

  4. You’re correct. …
    You’re correct. It’s a modulated IR sensor.

There is a tiny piece of foil there to help out. Red cups will work without it, but the foil makes it a lot more reliable under different lighting conditions (Even using a modulated sensor, ambient light is a !)

My best guess would be that it’s IR sensors.

If you look carefully, you can see some sort of dark material on the bottom which would cover an IR sensor, providing a difference in reflected light to trigger it.

This would also answer the question below about red cups–it should work.

  19. each person has 10 …
each person has 10 cups setup (as shown in the video) each filled with beer, as mush as you want, then you have a ping pong ball which you have to try to get it into the cups from the end of a table (Supposed to be around 8 feet or so) and thats basically it. also you can make rules, like if it bounces 2 times then goes into a cup you drink twice.

There are OFFICIAL rules, but those are the ones I play by.
